If Only – Just Another Ordinary Day
“Good morning sweetheart.”
Ricky kissed her before answering back.
“Good morning sweetheart. Waking up every day is so beautiful because you are the first person I see.”
“Sweetheart ang aga ha!”
“O bakit? I’m telling the truth. May masama ba sa sinabi ko?”
Ricky was challenging her. Maya looked at her husband and could only see his sincerity. She could only shake her head realizing how lucky she is to have as her husband. The only thing she could think of is to kiss him as a repay. And so she did.
“Tayo na tayo sweetheart, baka gising na yung kambal.”
They went to the twin’s room and was surprised to see that only Sunshine was awake.
“Hello Sunshine! Good morning!”
Sunshine giddily went to Maya and kissed her, next her dad. Ricky picked her up.
“Good morning princess!”
“Good morning dadi.”
“Ang hyper ni Sunshine ah. Ano kayang meron at tulog pa ang Sky.”
Maya went to Sky’s bed and check if he has fever, fortunately he’s not.
“Sky? <tsup> Skyyyy? <tsup,tsup>”
“Mommy, maaga namang natulog tong kambal di ba?”
“Oo, tignan mo nga si Sunshine maganda ang gising.”
Sky flutters his eyelids,
“Oh, okay. You still want to stay in bed? Are you feeling okay Sky?”
He lazily nods his head. And he goes back to sleep.
“Wow! Inaantok talaga. Wala namang sakit.”
Maya was really feeling worried.
“Mommy, don’t worry too much. Baka inaantok lang talaga si Sky. Breakfast muna tayo then gisingin natin after. Okay?”
Maya nods her head but before she left, she made sure Sky won’t fall off from the bed and kissed him on the forehead.
At the table, the three older siblings were surprised that their parents only have Sunshine with them.
“Mom? Where’s Sky?” Nikki asked.
“Ayaw pa gumising eh. Sleepy daw sya. Iniwan muna namin ng daddy nyo. After breakfast namin puntahan. Ah, Doris, pasuyo naman, pakipuntahan muna si Sky. Salamat.”
“Sige po Mrs. Chief, ako na muna bahala kay Sky.”
“Wala naman po siyang lagnat mom?”
“Wala Luke. Yun nga una ko tinignan. Okay naman temperature nya.”
After breakfast, the couple went back to the twin’s room.
“Hi mami! Hi dahdi!”
The couple looked at each other.
“Kanina pa siya gising Doris?”
“Opo Mrs. Chief. Nung magmulat po siya ng mata, tumayo tapos kinuha ung kotse-kotsehan nya. Ayan po, naglalaro lang.”
“Sige Doris, kami na bahala kay Sky.”
“Sige po Sir Richard.”
“Hi baby Sky. Are you hungry?”
“What do you want to eat baby?”
“I want babeque.”
“Sweetheart, inaantok lang talaga yan kanina. May appetite eh.”
Maya had to laugh at that, it was a relief as well knowing her child is ok.
“Okay baby, we’ll ask ate Sabel to cook barbeque, so you’ll have milk for now. Is that okay?”
Sky nod his head.
“C’mon baby. Let’s go out.”
In the living room.
“Hi Sky! How’s your sleep?”
“Hi ahte Nikki!”
“Mukhang okay nga lang sya my.”
“Oo nga Luke eh. Antok lang talaga siguro. Tinanong ko nga kung ano gusto, barbeque daw. Papaluto ko nga pala kay Sabel.”
“Mom, ako na po magsabi kay ate Sabel.”
“Thank you ate Abby.”
“Sky, you liked the barbeque?”
“Yesh! Yummy momi!”
“Mukha nga, nakatatlong stick ka na.”
And the family laughed.
“Big boy na Sky ah. Pwede ng maging kuya.” Ricky quipped earning another laugh from the family.
“Hahaha. What? The twins are big now, what’s wrong with adding another little one. What do you think guys?”
“Ok ako dyan dad!”
“Oh-em-gee! Me too!”
“Ako rin po dad. Gusto ko uli ng baby.”
“Naku sweetheart, tigilan mo nga. Baby pa rin tong kambal.”
“Mom, we can help take care of the kambal. And besides, malalaki na nga sila mom.”
“O sige, gusto nyo, gusto ba ng kambal?”
“We could ask them. Sunshine, you want a baby sister or brother? The baby will call you ate Sunshine.”
“Wow! Ate. Yes!”
“How about you Sky? You want someone to call you kuya Sky?”
Frown was marred on his forehead.
“Mommy got a baby on her tummy.”
Sky looked at his mom, as though trying to verify if this is true. Maya only smiled. But he didn’t answer and continued eating.
“Oh oh, we do have a mommy’s boy.”
“Ricky naman kasi ang lakas mo mang-asar.”
“What did I do? There is a possibility of another baby coming. Why, you don’t want?”
“Sweetheart, it’s not that. Kaso syempre kailangan din natin isipin kung okay sa mga bata.”
“Well Mrs. Lim if ever you have missed, the kids all agreed except for mr. grumpy.”
“Hahaha, naku Ricky tigilan mo na. Baka masira pa timpla nung isang bata.”
“Kuya Sky, are you done with your food?”
The older kids laughed with their dad, knowing full well that he was only teasing baby Sky.
“Momi, why dadi calling me kuya?”
“Daddy is just teasing you baby Sky.”
“Ricky, tantanan na ha. Ang kulit mo, papaiyakin mo pa ung anak mo.”
“Sweetheart, nakakatuwa lang asarin kasi si mr. grumpy. Hahaha”
Maya could only shake her head with her husband’s playfulness.
“I don’t yike kuya ishky.”
Sky suddenly spoke up.
“Oh oh..mukhang ako lang talaga ang magiging kuya ah.”
“Naku, this will be oh so hard mom.”
“Hala, ayaw ng baby ni Sky. Sad”
“Huwag kayong mag-alala, if the time comes na may dumating nga na new baby, madali ng maipaliwanag kay Sky.”
“Yes! So pwede pa nga.”
“Tignan natin Luke. Pero baby pa rin naman ung kambal ah.”
“Yes mom, pero they seem to be growing so fast. Next year they will start schooling already. It won’t be the same.”
“Oo nga po mommy.”
“Pero kung sakali, isa na lang ha. Baka mamaya pag may baby na tayo tapos mag-aaral na magrequest na naman kayo ah. Tama na. Pero siguro by that time, si Luke may baby na. Ang bata kong lola pag nagkataon.”
Luke’s eyes rounded big while Ricky almost choked on his food.
“O sweetheart, okay ka lang?”
“Sweetheart, hinay-hinay sa apo. Not that topic for now.”
“Hahaha. Sige, yan ang pambala ko pag inasar mo pa si Sky.”
“Hay, kaya mommy’s boy.”
“Okay lang yan sweetheart, para baby pa rin. At least malambing.”
“Malambing din naman ako ah.”
“Sweetheart, given na yun. Iba sa mga anak natin.”
“I’m malambing mom.”
“Oo naman Nikki.”
“Me too mommy.”
“Of course ate Abby. Kahit naman si kuya Luke.”
“Yes, kuya Sky?”
“am not kuya ishky!”
“Hay naku, kayo talagang mag-ama, pang-asar.”
“hahaha, wag mo ko idamay sweetheart. Tahimik na ako dito.”
“Oo nga, tapos mamaya babanat ka na naman.”
And they all laughed.
Another happy and fun-filled breakfast of the family. Love very evident.
