If Only – San Nicolas Adventure 5

If Only – San Nicolas Adventure 5
The kids were playing patintero with some of the adults. The rest were spectators.
Team A: Luke, Abby, Cho, Sabel, Sunshine
Team B: Joma, Doris, Nikki, Gerry, Marco, Sky
Kuya Joma was able to bring along his son who was enjoying as well the province life.
The kids were all enjoying and having so much time that at times the elders need to call their attention to have a break and eat. But not Mr. Grumpy.
“Mommy, tummy hunggy.” Sky run to his mom to tell her of his dilemma.
“hahaha. Naku, pagod na si kuya Sky kaya nagugutom na.” Maya kisses Sky on his sweaty face.
“At amoy kalsada na rin. Hahaha.”
“Mrs. Chief ito po pamunas.” Doris gave her a towel.
“Thank you Doris. Sky, you want to go home now?”
Sky was alerted, looked at the house on her back then at his mom. He was frowning.
“Matalino ang anak mo mommy.” Ricky jested and they both laugh.
“Sky, I was talking about our home in Manila, not lolo tatay’s and lola nanay’s home.”
When understanding dawn on him, “No! Mommy! I don’t yike. I don’t yike.”
“But we need to go home.”
Sky was shaking his head profusely.
“Okay, okay. You just eat now. What do you want?”
“Rice cake!” His mood swings fast.
“Naku buti na lang nakabili ang tatay ninyo ng bibingka.” Nanay Teresita getting used to her apos new names for the Filipino dishes. “Sky, halika dito.” Sky obediently went to lola Nanay to have his snack.
The rest take a break as well.
The couple were now in discussion.
“Sweetheart, paano yan, ayaw ng umuwi ng anak mo.”
“I told you sweetheart. Yan ang anak mo na yan ang pinakamatagal makagusto at pinakamatagal umayaw. <sighs> Now what do we do?  Do we leave them here?”
Maya had a horrendous look on her face.
“Ayoko nun sweetheart. Alam mo namang ayokong may nawawala sa paningin ko.”
“Okay, calm down sweetheart. May three days pa tayo para mag-isip. But let’s face it, there is a possibility na magpaiwan yang mga yan dito. Look how much Luke, Nikki and Abby are enjoying the life here. Have you noticed them holding their gadgets?”
Maya sighed, knowing how true was her husband’s observations were.
Ricky embraced her and kissed her on the forehead.
“Kain na muna tayo sweetheart. Baka maubusan tayo ni Sky.” Ricky chuckled trying to lighten the mood of his wife, to no avail though. He could only sigh.
Everyone were having good laugh over stories shared by each one, all except Maya. She was quite in turmoil. Nanay Tere asked Ricky about it.
“Richard, magkaaway ba kayo ni Maya?”
“Hindi po Nay.”
“Eh bakit ang tahimik niya.”
Ricky scratched his head.
“Narinig niyo naman po kanina si Sky na ayaw umuwi. Nabanggit ko lang po na baka magpaiwan dito ung mga bata. Kaya ayan.”
“Ay, naku. Problema nga yan Richard. Naalala ko nung pinapaiwan ko dito ung kambal nung maliliit pa, ayaw din niya. Tapos kung sakali, lima to.”
“Kaya nga po nay. Kaso, kailangan na rin namin bumalik ng Maynila dahil napahaba na ang bakasyon namin.”
“O sige, kung ano man mapagkasunduan ninyong mag-asawa, suportahan namin ng tatay nyo.”
“Salamat po nay.”
Later that night.
Maya cuddles her husband but she was far from sleeping.
“Sweetheart, gusto mo magkape?” Ricky asked her.
“Matutulog na tayo Ricky di ba? Paano tayo makakatulog kung magkakape tayo.” She flatly responded.
Ricky stood up and assisted her to get up.
“Ricky!”
“Ssssshhhh. You might wake up the kids.”
After Maya fixed their coffee, since she has no choice as Ricky doesn’t know how to make a good cup of coffee. They settled in the living room.
“What are you really afraid of sweetheart?”
Maya sighed. She leaned back on her husband and look out the window. Ricky kissed the top of her head and wait patiently for her to talk.
“Nung maliliit kami, inaabangan namin lagi ni kute ang bakasyon kasi marami kaming gagawin. Kahit kami lang malakas loob naming dalawa.” She stopped and sigh. “Sweetheart, I fear that our kids are not that strong to be left alone. Masyado ata natin sila na-baby.”
Since Maya was in front of him, he raised his eyebrow. As though saying, ‘not my fault’.
“Ricky, wag kang magmalinis. We’re both the culprit here.” And she move to face him.
He could only laugh. His wife knows him well.
“Sweetheart, we will never know unless we allow them to be somehow independent from us. And this is one way.”
Maya looked up, looked down and cover her face and heaved a deep sigh.
“Fine!”
Ricky chuckled and gathered her in his arms.
“I love you sweetheart!”
They were startled when they hear some snickers.
“Kids, come out here.” Ricky instructed.
The three older kids piled out.
“Sorry dad, sorry mom.” Luke spoke for them three.
“So gusto ninyo talaga magpaiwan? Bakit hindi kayo nagsasabi?” Maya asked them.
“Eh kasi po mom, we don’t know how we will open the subject po eh.”
“Do you feel like you can’t tell or ask me anything now?”
“Oh no! No! No! Mom. Never. Kaya lang, nahihiya din po kami kina lola Nanay, tatits and lolo Tatay.”
“Bakit naman?” They all turn around. Nanay Tere, Tatay Arturo and Kute were there now as well.
Nikki looked at Luke, who scratched his head before answering.
“Eh kasi po..ano po eh…” Luke couldn’t continue what he was saying as he really don’t know what to say.
“Mga apo, gustong-gusto namin na andito kayo. Minsan lang ang bakasyon kaya dapat nasusulit ninyo. Kung payag na ang mga magulang ninyo, masaya kami ng lolo tatay ninyo, tatits at lalo ni Cho na magbakasyon kayo dito. Walang kaso un.”
“Yehey! Thank you po lola Nanay, lolo Tatay at tatits.” Abby said.
“Hay naku ang mga batang to. Nagpasalamat na rin ba kayo sa mommy at daddy niyo?” Tay Arturo injected.
The three went to their parents and hugged them. Abby peppered Maya’s face with kisses.
“Hay naku baby, okay na. Hindi naman ako galit..”
“Nagtatampo lang.” Ricky and Kute said in unison making every laugh and washing away the tension.
“So, okay na talaga ha? Sweetheart?” Ricky asked.
Maya nodded her head and sigh once more, “Oo, okay na.”
Cheers erupted until nanay Tere motioned for them to settle down, remembering the rest were already sleeping. They all said good nights and went into their rooms.
Another one fun-filled day for the Dela Rosa and Lim Family.
[a/n: have a good rest everyone. Happy weekend!]

  2. Thank you Ms. Ejoy! Napakaganda namang pambaon sa weekend nito. I love how Mrs. Chief worry and being protective of all the kids, even the older ones. They have a very good and loving relationship with her. Sigh… the more I miss them. Good thing… JOCHARD BALIK TAMBALAN NA. But I will always miss the BCWMH family. They are already a part of us.

  4. Thank u thereaderwritergal for this episode sa family life nf Lim-delaRosa family. And for first time in their life the kids mom&dad mawawala sa paningin nila but hanggang kelan kaya yun? The younger ones will go back with mom&dad. Cheers.

  5. I do really miss life in the province, the weather, the air , fruits and veggie , the river , so I understand the kids , pauwiin na sila dad and mom , with Sean hahaha
