If Only – Because Sky is Gwapo
“O sweetheart, bakit naka-ganyan pa yan?” Ricky commented when he got in the kid’s room and saw Sky still in his sando and pants, standing on the edge of the bed, frowning and pouting.
“Eh ayaw isuot tong polo.”
“Did you buy this?” Ricky is now scrutinizing the polo.
“Naku hindi sweetheart. Bigay ni Des yan.”
“Anong ah sweetheart?”
Ricky shrugged his shoulders.
“Nothing. I just said it.”
“Naku sweetheart.” Maya commented knowingly.
“What?” Ricky said nonchalantly and diverted the conversation. “Kung ayaw ni Sky yan, wag mo na ipilit sweetheart. Would you have him in a bad mood? Tsaka that checkered polo doesn’t look good. His favorite mint green polo would be better.”
“Grabe ka sweetheart.” And she laughed.
“Am just telling the truth sweetheart. Tignan mo at ayaw isuot ng anak mo.”
“Oo na sweetheart, di ko na ipipilit. Eh kaso, ano naman gagawin ko dito kung ayaw nya isuot?”
“Give it away. Nakatulong at nakapagpasaya ka pa ng iba.” And he gave her his very innocent lopsided smile.
She could only shake her head and smile in amusement.
“Fine sweetheart. Isasama ko na to sa mga ipapamigay natin.” Then Maya directed her attention to Sky.
“Sky, if you don’t like this, we’ll be giving it to someone else.”
“Otei mommy.” His immediate response.
Ricky laughed out loud.
“He really doesn’t like it.” His comment.
“Hindi nga.” And Maya laughed along with her husband. Sky laughed along with his parents, to mimic their actions.
Maya gave him a kiss on both his cheeks, even though what she really wanted was to pinch both his chubby cheeks.
“Manang-mana ka talaga sa daddy mo Sky.”
Sky nodded his head as though he understands.
Ricky laughed once more before picking him up and giving him a kiss.
“Sky, just tell mommy you just like to look gwapo and mabango like daddy.”
“Ang yabang mo sweetheart.” Maya’s reaction.
“Why, hindi ba sweetheart?”
“Ewan ko sa’yo sweetheart.”
“Just say it sweetheart. I know you’d love to say it.” Ricky wiggled his eyebrows and giving her his infamous lopsided smile.
Sky was imitating his dad’s wiggling of eyebrows that had Maya laughing.
“Hay naku sweetheart. Manang-mana talaga.”
Ricky did not respond and just continue on wiggling his eyebrows. Maya pursed her lips, as she tries to stifle a smile.
“Oo na sweetheart. Ikaw nga di ba si daddy pogi at daddy bango.”
Ricky grinned at her and Maya gave a heartily laugh.
“Tara na nga at kanina pa nag-aantay sa atin ung mga bata. Ang arte kasi ng anak mo.”
“It’s okay mommy, marunong lang talaga pumili ang anak mo.” Ricky smiled.
Maya rolled her eyes playfully and went to the kid’s cabinet to take Sky’s mint green polo.
“I’m gwapo mommy like dahdi.” Sky proudly said after Maya put the polo on him. Ricky was grinning.
“Of course baby. You’re gwapo, much gwapo than daddy.”
Sky giggled. Ricky now shakes his head.
“Talo ako lagi sa baby mo. Pano kaya kay Sean?” Ricky
“Hay naku sweetheart, tigilan mo yan, hindi bagay. Gwapo ka, okay na? Kaso pang-apat ka lang ha. Tie sa 1 and 2 sina Sky and Sean, #3 si Luke so #4 ka.”
“Fine. Sa akin naman sila lahat nagmana.”
Maya looked at him, he looked back, after a minute they burst out laughing. And of course, Sky laughed along with his parents.
Just one fine Sunday.
